Chris Overend and Julius Martin had good chances to end Devin Braune’s winning streak at the sixth round of the World eX Bizz at Istanbul – but it didn’t happen.
Julius Martin in particular showed a strong performance on the former Formula 1 race track in Turkey. In qualifying, he only had to admit defeat to Devin Braune. At the start of the first race, he immediately took the lead. However, the joy did not last long: Martin had jumped the start, which resulted in a drive-through penalty. So Braune secured his eleventh Bizz victory in a row.
The second race with reversed grid also started with a drama for Julius Martin. He collided with his teammate Johannes Meinck in Turn 1. Björn Skottke and Bodo Kräling (both bspowersports) were also involved in the start crash.
Chris Overend took the lead and held on to it before making a mistake in the chicane and losing control of his eX ZERO. Devin Braune said thank you and celebrated Bizz win number twelve ahead of Julius Martin, who despite the spin in Turn 1 and a later tussle with Luca Munro sensationally managed to fight his way up to second place.
Luca Munro and Steffen Walter completed the podium in the first race. The two had a thrilling duel, which Munro won when Walter’s tyres overheated.
In the second race, Munro retired after contact with Julius Martin. With another podium, Steffen Walter managed to overtake Munro in the championship. He is now second in the standings behind Devin Braune.
In the AM category, Frank Enger celebrated a double victory. He finished a strong fourth overall in both races.
