Rocket Simsports’ Devin Braune remains unbeaten in season 6 of World eX Bizz. The 26-year-old software developer celebrated two commanding victories in Long Beach.
That Braune would be in a class of his own on the first street circuit of the year had already become apparent during the “Meet & Drive” practice evenings. In qualifying, he discounted the rest of the otherwise fairly close field by more than six tenths of a second.
From pole position, Braune scored a commanding win in Race 1 – helped by the fact that three drivers from the leading group, Bobby Trundley, Julius Martin and Steffen Walter, were involved in a spectacular start collision. Defending champion Julius Martin was the luckiest of them and took third place, his first podium of the season.
Second place went to Luca Munro, who has nicknamed his newly designed eX ZERO the “Red Alert”. Munro and Martin benefited from a spin by Jarno Wiese, who narrowly missed out on his first podium in the networking racing series.
The 14-year-old kart driver also caused an upset in the second race. Wiese received two yellow cards for incidents on the first lap. Since he already had one yellow card, the third yellow card meant automatic disqualification after he had initially crossed the finish line in third place behind Devin Braune and Luca Munro.
After the start of the reversed grid race, Hamish Easener had initially taken the lead. The 19-year-old disabled racer put in an impressive performance on her debut in World eX Bizz. She only had to relinquish the lead to Devin Braune on lap seven. She also had to let Luca Munro and Jarno Wiese pass after some nice battles. However, Wiese’s disqualification promoted her to third place and she immediately celebrated a podium on her debut. “This is the first league podium in my whole racing career,” she said. “I’m so happy!”
Björn Skottke secured victory in the AM class in both races. With places five and four, the bspowersports driver also showed a strong performance overall.
World eX Bizz continues on June 6 in Mexico City. Devin Braune celebrated two wins there in season 3 and will once again be the driver to beat.
Before qualifying, ABT Cupra Formula E race engineer Markus Michelberger was guest in the Bizz talk, giving the participants of the networking and business racing platform some interesting insights into Formula E, while he also talked about the development of an 1/5 scale all-electric eX ZERO for radio-controlled racing.
