Devin Braune remains unbeaten in World eX Bizz

Devin Braune remains unbeaten in World eX Bizz. The software developer from Germany also won both races at Donington Park. However, Braune had to work hard for victory in the second race.

Bobby Trundley had a strong debut in the networking and business racing platform. The 23-year-old real world racing driver got on well with the powerful eX ZERO right from the start. In Qualifying he was just 121 thousandths of a second off pole position.

As at the season opener in Bahrain, pole was secured by Devin Braune, who subsequently clinched a commanding start-finish victory in Race 1 – aided by the fact that Nicolas Hillebrand spun his eX ZERO on the first lap.

Bobby Trundley and Luca Munro completed the Race 1 podium, while Dominik Heußen secured his second win of the season in the AM category.

There was drama for Devin Braune in the reverse-grid Race 2 when he had to go through the gravel in Turn 1, dropping him to second last.

Braune started an impressive comeback drive which was helped by a frantic opening lap which saw many of the drivers in front of him making contact or spinning off the track.

There was more drama on lap 2 when the three leading cars all hit difficulties, handing the race lead briefly to Julius Martin. His lead, however, did not last long when the defending champion made an unforced error putting Martin out of contention for the race win.

Braune passed his good old friend Nicolas Hillebrand in an intense but clean battle, moving to P3, immediately putting pressure on second placed Steffen Walter.

And he was eventually handed P1 on a silver tablet when Bobby Trundley and Steffen Walter both lost control over their eX ZEROs within a few yards.

Braune said thank you and went on to score an unlikely win from the back of the field ahead of Nicolas Hillebrand and Bobby Trundley.

The final laps of Race 2 delivered an intense battle for P4 and the AM class win between pole sitter Frank Enger and Thomas Voigt who had come through the field from P12 on the grid. Voigt surprised Enger into the hairpin on the final lap with a bold move and was able to defend the position in the last corner, securing the AM-class win.

It’s no big surprise with Devin Braune and Nicolas Hillebrand two drivers from the World eX Championship are leading the standings after the first four races, while Bodo Kräling and Dominik Heußen are separated by just five points in the AM category.

On May 2, World eX Bizz will head to Long Beach in California for the first city-street race of the season.
