On the edge in the green hell

The two races of the third round of the networking race series World eX Bizz could hardly have been more different. Race 1 took place on the legendary Nürburgring-Nordschleife, the longest and most difficult race track in the world. Afterwards, ten laps were scheduled on the shortest track variant of the Nürburgring, on which the qualifying was also completed.

Andre Dietzel from Team tv racing secured pole position with a strong lap shortly before the end of qualifying, 19 thousandths of a second ahead of defending champion Julius Martin.

On the Nordschleife, Dietzel and Martin had a spectacular battle right from the start, which turned into a three-way fight on the first lap when Michael Niemas squeezed past Dietzel’s team-mate Steffen Walter with a slight touch in the “Kesselchen” section.

Double champion Michael Niemas also managed to overtake Julius Martin, chasing Andre Dietzel. It was quickly foreseeable that in the end the slipstreams on the Döttinger Höhe would be decisive. Niemas, known as #windshadowman from the #RaceHome charity racing series, overtook Dietzel at the end of the second lap. But Dietzel was able to counterattack and secure victory on the Nordschleife.

“I passed Andre a little too early, so he was able to attack me again out of the slipstrem,” said Michael Niemas. “It was a great battle. I’m sorry that I touched Steffen Walter on the first lap and destroyed his race.”

Despite damage to his eX ZERO, Walter was still able to overtake Julius Martin and secure third place on the podium.

Victory in the AM category went to Björn Skottke, who had not expected this result himself.

Julius Martin, Andre Dietzel, Michael Niemas and Steffen Walter were also the main protagonists in the second race with reversed grid. All four fought their way from the back of the field to the front.

Defending champion Julius Martin celebrated his first win of the season, while Andre Dietzel took the lead in the overall World eX standings with second place.

Behind them, Michael Niemas and Steffen Walter continued their duel from the Nordschleife.

Victory in the AM classification went to Jens Wippermann, who had started from pole position after an accident in the first race.

The World eX Bizz continues on 2 May with a night race at Dubai.
