Björn Skottke and Stefan Waschow celebrated their first victories in the new RCCO E-Sport Series in rounds 9 and 10 on the virtual race track of Interlagos (Brazil). Half-time champion is Michael Niemas, who achieved two third places.
In the qualifying race, “Skottie” had to admit defeat to RCCO returnee Matthias Franzen, who crossed the finish line as the winner after three laps with a super tight margin.
In the first race, Skottke managed the decisive overtaking move already at the beginning of the second lap. Franzen narrowly defeated Michael Niemas, who had slipped off the track on the first lap and then worked his way back to the leaders.
A real eye-catcher was the second race with a reversed starting grid. For the winner of the first race, the second race was over before it had even started: Due to the infamous “”start bug” of Gran Turismo Sport, Skottke’s Audi e-tron Vision Gran Turismo stalled at the start.
Without “Skottie”, a thrilling tussle for victory developed: Michael Niemas, Stefan Waschow, Matthias Franzen and Thomas Voigt overtook each other for laps before Waschow was able to break away from the pursuers in the final stages. In a photo finish, Matthias Franzen again secured second place ahead of Michael Niemas and Thomas Voigt.
Jörg Schumacher and Frank Wilke achieved their best results in the RCCO E-Sport Series with fifth places.
The next two races will be held on 6 July.
