Just days after the legendary Indianapolis 500, World eX makes a comeback to the iconic Indianapolis oval, marking the first time since 2023 that these electric prototypes have tackled this high-speed, high-stakes circuit. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
With the Indy 500 fresh in the memory \u2013 where Alex Palou claimed his first oval victory \u2013 World eX drivers are preparing for their own unique challenge on one of motorsport\u2019s most hallowed grounds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Unlike the real-world IndyCar event, the World eX round faces a particular challenge: extreme tyre wear. To manage this, the RCCO has introduced mandatory pit stops \u2013 one for the 12-minute Sprint race and two for the 24-minute Feature race. This adds a layer of strategy. The drivers will need to balance speed with tyre management, making every pit stop a potential race-changer while it will also be crucial to have slipstreams throughout the whole race as running together will gain up to half a second per lap. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Indy\u2019s oval may offer the best opportunity yet to break the winning streak of reigning World Champion Devin Braune. The unique demands of the circuit, combined with the mandatory stops and unpredictable tire performance, could shake up the established order. With margins expected to be razor-thin, any mistake or miscalculation could open the door for a new winner. Braune, however, won the final practice race the week before the event overtaking young German kart racer Jarno Wiese on the outside of Turn 3 on the very last lap.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Qualifying is set to be super tight, with the pole time predicted to be around 41.5 seconds \u2013 just fractions slower compared to the fastest lap in qualifying for the 2025 Indy 500 (38.7 seconds).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
