The first virtual champion in RCCO history has been determined: Michael Niemas from Team Niemas Racecars eSports had to settle for two second places at the finale of the new RCCO E-Sport Series at Spa-Francorchamps. In the subsequent Super Final on the N\u00fcrburgring-Nordschleife, however, the model artist then celebrated a commanding lights-to-flag victory to secure the first RCCO E-Sport Series title.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The new racing series features an unusual set of rules. In the Super Final, those drivers who had achieved at least one podium result in the 2020 season competed for the championship title. The starting grid corresponded to the standings after 20 races. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Michael Niemas managed to turn the advantage of pole position into an early lead and pull away from the pursuers, who were involved in fierce duels behind him. \u201cIt was my tactic to get out in front from the start if I could and then see how it all unfolds,\u201d Niemas said after his tenth win of the season. \u201cI knew roughly what was going on pace-wise. After Stefan (Waschow) made a mistake and got his tires dirty, I was able to take it easy and drive it home. This first RCCO E-Sport season has been a lot of fun. The series is professionally organized. And you have to remember that it was created before the Corona pandemic. It was a very good idea.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Niemas laid the foundation for his eventual title win with six straight victories at the start of the season. As the season progressed, Stefan Waschow emerged as his fiercest competitor, competing in the 2020 RCCO E-Sport Series under the Phoenix Racing bid but docking with Niemas Racecars eSports in the second half of the season. With seven wins, Waschow secured the runner-up championship.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
